You will be a generalist and an all rounder with some solid design skills and flair who is happy to take projects from the initial concept all the way through to delivery and artwork.
The company provide a lovely working environment and most people work from home Monday’s and Friday’s and there will be opportunity to travel to some far flung places (since Christmas members of the team have worked in Venice, Dubai, Hawaii, Bahamas and the US).

Ryall Porter Sheridan Architects is a New York City based firm focused on high-end residential and unique mid-sized institutional projects with an emphasis on high-performance / environmentally sustainable design. One of the few firms in North America to complete multiple internationally certified Passive House projects, RPSA offers an opportunity to work collaboratively on architecture that strives to integrate aesthetics and performance in new and challenging ways.
RPSA is seeking an intermediate architect with 3 to 5 years post-graduation work experience to manage various projects from schematic design through construction administration. Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they can work closely, and effectively with Partners and peers, taking a leading role in developing, presenting, critiquing and refining design options. Strong skills in hand drawing, and physical model building are necessary as is a willingness to pin work up on the wall and present work on the table for open discussion.
Additional requirements:
- Professional BArch or March degree.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A solid understanding of architectural materials and how to detail plans, site elements, wall sections and interior components of a project.
- Strong skills in organizing drawings sets for permit applications, bidding and construction.
- Experience coordinating the work of consultants (structural, mechanical, electrical engineers, land-use and permit advisors, building envelope consultants).
- The ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors and suppliers.
- Familiarity with Vectorworks, Sketchup, and the Adobe suite of programs.
- Pro-active, collaborative attitude and a working method that organizes tasks on written lists and establishes clear priorities for daily, weekly and monthly tasks.
- Familiarity with Passive House techniques / Passive House certification a plus.
