The Industrial Designer role
- Create innovative and beautiful product design solutions for the consumer markets.
- Translate macro trends into design inspiration.
- Communicate ideas and pitch concepts, with great sketching and visualisation abilities.
- Liaise with highly ambitious clients across Europe, US and Japan.
- Have a hands on approach to design coordinating with all team members on multiple projects.
- Manage projects on a day to day basis and be responsible for meeting project deadlines.
- Leading ideation and concept development with the ability to take concept through every stage of the design process.
- Driving user research and innovation.
- Successfully apply CMF.
About the industrial designer
- A BA, BSc in Product/Industrial design.
- You will have a high level of practical experience proven within an industrial design consultancy environment.
- Great ideation skills, with a sensitivity to form and detail.
- Experience of consumer electronics and home appliances.
- Proficiency in Rhino, Alias and/or NX.
- Very high standards of Keyshot visualisation.
- Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
- Articulate and professional communicator.
Palette Architecture was founded in 2010 by three partners and has grown its practice creating built landscape, commercial and residential projects throughout New York City. The firm utilizes a pragmatic approach to explore the specific limits and possibilities of each project. From inception through completion, design concepts are developed and iterated on with input from clients, consultant engineers, code parameters, and construction contractors. The firm has developed a design-build wing to forge a closer relationship between architecture and construction. The feedback loop created by this practice informs design decisions and insures delivery of high-quality, complex projects. Current work includes single and multi-family residential, office, co-working, retail and hospitality.
This job offers opportunities for a young architect to get experience with local projects at all stages. We are looking for a highly motivated individual eager to engage in design, construction documents, and construction administration. The small firm size, and hands on nature of the work will give the proper candidate a full understanding of what it takes to get projects built in New York City. We are looking for an organized, pro-active architect that is capable of multi-tasking and taking projects through to completion. You will work closely with partners, but also be responsible for carrying out select tasks on your own. We are looking for summer and full-time employees.
Qualifications:
- Strong conceptual design approach working from Concept phase through Construction Administration demonstrated with portfolio examples as well as completed construction projects.
- Communication and collaboration are extremely important.
- Detail oriented and organized approach.
- Degree in Architecture.
- Minimum of 1 year work experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (REVIT experience preferable).
- 3-D Modeling and Renderings.
- Proficiency in Adobe programs.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
