Having just celebrated 20 years in business, Heighway Associates Architects are a well-established practice with an excellent local reputation based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire offering a professional service involving all stages of the design and building process. We are a medium sized practice and are currently involved in a large number of projects, mainly residential but also commercial covering Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire where we have an established client base with the majority of our work being referrals from existing or previous clients.
We have a full-time, permanent vacancy for an Architect or Architectural Technician. The successful candidate will be a Post Graduate in Architecture or Architectural Technology with at least 2 years’ experience of working within the residential sector for a UK based Architectural practice including experience of Historic and Listed Buildings.
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Experience of working on all stages of projects from conception and design through to contract administration and on site project management.
- Ability to undertake measured building surveys.
- Ability to prepare detailed drawings in AutoCAD.
- Ability to prepare freehand sketches.
- Knowledge of Planning process including Building Regulations and contract administration.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience of dealing with clients and third party consultants such as structural engineers and planning officers.
- Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
- Flexibility and enthusiasm.
- Ability to manage own time effectively.

Work closely with Firm Associates/Principles in producing design development (DD) and construction documentation (CD) in support of the company's in-house construction team.
Interface with Clients as a design team member in creating spatial solutions for their projects.
Work closely with the field during construction in a collaborative, solution based effort to provide our Owner's with the highest value.
Provide our clients with the utmost in customer service.
Be an active participant in the firm's training and design community in an effort to create a better and more talented staff.

- 1 to 4 years of experience in an Architects office working with production documentation.
- Basic understanding of the components of a construction set of documents and how the are compiled and produced.
- Driven to succeed and has a strong work ethic.
- Desire to become licensed in the field of architecture.
- NCARB Certification a plus.
- BS or MArch from an Accredited School that will allow for future multi-state registration.
- Revit experience strongly desired.
- AutoCAD experience a plus.
