A well established, international architectural design firm with multiple global offices is seeking to recruit a Senior Designer to be based in their central London office. The firm provides architectural, interior and urban design as well as programming and master planning services for clients in both the public and private sectors. The firm’s extensive portfolio, which spans more than 35 countries, includes a wide range of projects from mixed-use, office, hotel and residential complexes to civic and cultural buildings to education and research facilities.
Role & Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will work directly for Principal Architects in the firm and with those Principals, is expected to work collaboratively to develop design options and strategies, prepare and present design presentations to clients, and with the management and technical members of the team, contribute to the day to day management of a team throughout all stages.
Skills & Experience:
- A Master’s Degree level qualification in Architecture.
- 8-10 years’ professional experience in an architectural design practice is essential.
- Experience leading projects through all RIBA stages with an emphasis on design.
- Working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and Planning, Zoning Codes, and office standards, policies and procedures.
- At least 4-years of progressively responsible experience in architectural design, drawings and detailing (which can be demonstrated at interview and via references if required).
- The ability to demonstrate excellence in drawing and rendering, three dimensional visualisation, technical detailing and building systems, and an understanding of dimensional control.
- High standard of AutoCAD and Rhino expected, and a good knowledge of Revit preferred.
- Must have excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to lead a successful team, and forge strong relationships with clients, consultants and contractors.
- Strong English language skills in both a written and spoken context.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor or master degree of architecture with a minimum of 7 years experience in an architectural practice and have a basic understanding of building systems; candidates with an equivalent amount of work experience will be considered. Knowledge of various architectural styles and project types is necessary. The ability to freehand sketch is considered an asset. Technical proficiency and confidence using architectural drafting, modeling, and rendering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch-Up, 3D Studio Max, and Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, is essential.
