Zimmerman Workshop Architecture + Design is seeking a talented Architect (or architect in training). We are a boutique firm with a growing portfolio including some exciting new projects on the boards and several more under construction. We’re looking for individuals who can bring creativity, curiosity, enthusiasm, and a “can do” attitude, in addition to superb technical skills, to the small office environment.
Our office places design first. Problem solving, thinking on your toes, and fastidious attention to detail are mandatory. We believe everything and anything can be figured out, and we have a have a “never settle” approach as we move through all stages of a project. We encourage design through models (both physical and computer), sketching, brainstorming, and research. You will be exposed to all aspects of architecture and expected to be well rounded and excited to work on projects from schematic design to construction administration. The types of projects include everything from furniture to interior design to renovations to new buildings.
Beyond the requirements listed below, we’re looking for someone with positive energy and superb work ethic. You should be your own toughest critic until the job is done right with a general love of the game. We are a fast paced environment, looking for those who can keep up, who can take instructions and work independently but also as part of a team. Due to the small size of our office and the amount of work continually on the boards and under construction, everyone does everything. We all take out the trash and we all present to clients, we all lead site meetings and we all do redlines. You’ll be expected to wear all hats associated with running (and participating on) multiple projects at once. After a couple years in an environment like this, you’ll gain valuable insight toward running your own office or being a principal in a larger environment.
