New 68 bed care home with additional requirements for specialist nursing and dementia
Outcome
In March 2017, Carless and Adams were approached to produce a feasibility study for a care home scheme, outlined with requirements set by the client. The proposal includes 68 en-suite bedrooms with the necessary ancillary spaces. At the heart of the building is the four storey central hub which houses library/games room and cinema and two rooms that can be transformed into a larger community space.
The proposal also includes residents’ gym, a bar / café lounge and a hair and beauty suite. These have been designed to satisfy the needs of the prospective residents whilst maintaining high levels of security and care.
We adhered to the spatial and aesthetic requirements and introduced full height glazing which creates a light and fresh space that is surrounded by attractive landscaping. The themed terraces and wandering routes will allow for better stimulation and continuous movement that is suitable for the residents. The bedrooms facing the gardens will also have access to the external spaces and small patios.
